It’s that time again!

Time to publish your stories! As before, put a link in the comment section. Can't wait to read them all!

(Christy, please go ahead and link to yours again under this post, so we'll have it here with all the others. I shouldn't have jumped the gun and made you post the link early — I was just so taken with it I couldn't help myself!)

Hey Gina, where is yours? 🙂

    It’s coming! 🙂
Wow, Nibs, that is so powerful! I love how you framed it as an academic question, and I love all the little details, like the boy looking like a disembodied collar and cuffs. Great job!!

Popping in quickly to put my link up! I warn you in advance that I cannot live up to our other Dickensians! I can’t wait to come back in a bit and read everyone’s pieces!

Holly, I’m running in all directions right now, but I’ll make sure to take a moment and read yours sometime tonight. Thanks for contributing!

Good job, Holly! At least Mr. Guppy can always serve as a bad example! 😉 Poor Esther — thank goodness she realized she was worth more!

Great job on your story, Gina! I like how you capture Dickens’ tone and characters but you still use your own style. It’s really odd the scenes Dickens never wrote!

  8. Christy Avatar

Thanks for the comment you left on mine at FanFiction.net, Nibs!

  9. Gina Avatar

    Thanks so much, Nibs!

Oh, you’re welcome, both of you, it’s much deserved! Thanks also for your review, Gina, and Christy, if you have any constructive criticism for mine I’d be glad to hear it. 😉

    I can’t wait to read these!!! =)

Oh, Gina, yours is so perfect. It’s so much Carton and so much what I’ve always been convinced he would have been thinking and feeling. If I had written this scene, it would have been from the same point of view.
“This was right. He felt it in the very marrow of his bones. It was more right than anything he had ever done in his life, and he breathed a silent prayer of gratitude that the chance of redemption had come.”
“There was pain in the thought of them, as there always was, but now the pain was mixed with a strange, fierce joy. He could help them—at last, he had something that he could give them. That he alone could give them. He found himself wondering if his whole life—the life he had considered a worthless waste—had been lived just for this moment.”

    Aww, thanks, sweetie!

    Marian, are you doing one?

  15. Nibs Avatar

I asked her that too! I hope you did/are going to write one, Marian, because I loved your Nickleby story of the last round!

I wanted to, but I couldn’t come up with any ideas. 😉 I’ll try again next time, though!
So far I’ve read Gina’s, and it’s beautiful! The atmosphere is perfect, and I love this paragraph especially: “From the woman and the child, his thoughts drifted to Charles Darnay not far away. What was he doing right now? Watching the dawn from his prison cell? Counting the hours? Poor Darnay. Carton’s face softened as he thought of his oddly similar—nemesis? Friend? He had never quite been able to decide. Over the years, he had reluctantly grown to like the man who had everything Carton wanted, even while envy never stopped gnawing at him. Today, the last of the old resentment had vanished forever. He realized he was glad for Darnay’s sake, as well as for Lucie’s and the little girl’s, to do what he was going to do.”

Aw, shucks, you all are making me blush. 🙂 I had some trouble with this one, and I wasn’t sure how well it came across, so I’m really glad you like it!
I’m so sorry you couldn’t come up with ideas, Marian! I would have liked to read yours.
