In last week's installment, Dolly, while carrying love letters between Edward and Emma, was accosted first by Mr. Haredale and then by a man bursting out of the undergrowth. This week, read chapters 21 and 22. And here's a question for you: Were you able to guess who the man in the undergrowth was?
I wouldn’t have guessed, but I looked at the illustrations when I got my copy and so I knew.
Poor Dolly! She’s definitely my favorite so far, and thus I hate Hugh. Grr. And Joe is probably one of my favorite Dickensian gentlemen – he reminds me a bit of David Copperfield but not so sentimental.
I love the account of Miggs torturing Sim and then departing to “chuckle in secret”.
