You might be a Dickensian . . .

. . . if people wonder why you break into a big grin every time you hear the word "inimitable."

. . . if you hear the name "Bella" and think of Bella Wilfer instead of Bella Swan.

. . . if you consider "That's so Victorian" a compliment.

. . . if you wonder why none of the little children you know go around saying saintly things in flowery language.

. . . if you wonder why none of the little children you know are supporting themselves and their entire family.

. . . if you've ever considered naming your son Smike, Pip, Oliver, Barnaby, Ebenezer, or Sydney, or naming your daughter Agnes, Nell, or Estella.

    Eep! Guilty of the last one (my kids are going to hate me so much, lol)!
    …if you often write “Oh” as “O!”
    …if you hear of a mysterious death and KNOW it’s spontaneous combustion
    …if you think “Dickensian” is a compliment!
    …if paragraphs made of one sentence seem normal to you
    …if “the French Revolution” brings to mind Sydney Carton and not Napoleon
    …if you wonder if it’s so ENTIRELY impossible you might be not be the Queen’s daughter, after all!

    …if seeing the initials “S. C.” and “D. C.” makes you think of Sydney Carton and David Copperfield
    …if you enjoy going into cluttered antique shops, just because they look Dickensian
    …if you start impersonating Mr Guppy
    …if you find yourself often quoting Dickens characters
    …if you wish top hats, bonnets, and cloaks were still in style

    Napoleon? Who’s Napoleon? 😛 Actually I think of the Scarlet Pimpernel first. Then I think of Sydney. And I’m so naming one of my kids Sydney.

    If you have twins, you can call them Percy and Sydney. 🙂 I want to write a “Pimpernel”/”Two Cities” crossover someday. Maybe we could work on it together, after the group fic is finished, if you’re interested.

    I agree with so many – I’ve often thought of naming my kids Estella or Charles.
    …if you find at least one thing related to Dickens or that reminds you of Dickens every day
    …if you often search for Dickens on places such as Google, Wikipedia, and YouTube
    …if Charles Dickens is your friend on Facebook
    …if your obsessions is evident to at least one person that you hang out with
    …if you wish you could have multiple copies of at least one of Dickens’s books simply because they have different cover art

    Speaking of Selenia’s last one…
    …if you spent just a little extra money finding the copy of a certain Dickens book because you felt its cover art evoked the main character best.
    …if you had to go all the way to Seattle from Montana to find “Our Mutual Friend.”
    …if you have more Dickens miniseries than you have nearly any other one kind of movie.

    I do that kind of thing all the time… In fact, I went out of my way to get the Vintage Classics edition of Bleak House, just because I LOVE the picture of the birds on the front cover. 🙂
