I waited so patiently to see your review posted and then with the holidays only had the chance to read it now:) I had to drive over an hour to get to a theatre that was showing GE and was the only one in the audience which was a first. But I was grateful I was alone…I could talk and laugh and cry without anyone thinking I was nutty. Upon first sight I thought the actors who played Joe and Wemmick all wrong but they were so wonderful as well as Olly who played Herbert. So many weeks later I am still thinking about this adaptation…I thought it was pretty close to perfect… and the moment when Herbert, Pip and Joe are eating out and Joe wants to pay and Pip behaves so awfully…that moment was THE moment of the movie for me and so captured that exquisite pain even better than Dickens wrote it. Thank you for the review… I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the movie.
